A vegetation fire that broke out on Saturday in the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Orientales department, in southern France, has turned approximately 930 hectares of forest and vegetation into ash. Over 580 firefighters were mobilized to extinguish the flames, fueled by strong winds, high temperatures, and dry vegetation, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
The fire broke out near the town of Tr\u00e9villach and quickly spread to a rugged terrain area, where the intervention of rescue teams is challenging, and authorities warn that the fire is not yet under control.<\/p>\n\n
The authorities have temporarily closed several roads in the area, but no evacuations have been ordered so far. Nearby residents have been urged to remain vigilant and to follow the instructions of the authorities.<\/p>\n\n
This is the second major fire affecting the region within a few days and it comes amidst the heatwave that has swept France since mid-June.
