The most important news from the IPN feed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Prime Minister Munteanu resigned<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alexandru Munteanu <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/prime-minister-munteanu-has-announced-his-resignation-i-can-no-longer-exercise-my-mandate-in-accordance-with-the-principles-i-hold\/\">announced<\/a> his resignation as prime minister, stating that he could no longer carry out his duties in accordance with his principles and convictions. He thanked his colleagues for their cooperation and said he would continue to serve the Republic of Moldova, regardless of the position he may hold in the future. As a result, President Maia Sandu <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-president-announces-consultations-with-parliamentary-factions-for-the-appointment-of-a-new-prime-minister\/\">announced<\/a> that next week she will begin consultations with parliamentary factions to nominate a candidate for the office of prime minister.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The head of the APP has resigned. The institution will be reorganized<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Roman Cojuhari announced his <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/roman-cojuhari-resigns-from-the-leadership-of-app-following-the-scandal-at-moldatsa\/\">resignation<\/a> as director of the Public Property Agency, citing the agency\u2019s responsibility for monitoring Moldatsa\u2019s activities. Previously, MP Radu Marian <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/radu-marian-resigns-from-the-head-of-the-economic-commission-following-the-moldatsa-scandal\/\">resigned<\/a> as chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Budget and Finance, taking responsibility for recommending Dumitru Vangheli to lead the company. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/app-will-fall-under-the-jurisdiction-of-the-ministry-of-economic-development-and-digitalization\/\">announced<\/a> the reorganization of the Public Property Agency and its transfer to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Searches at Moldatsa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Anti-Corruption Center <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/searches-at-moldatsa-in-a-case-of-abuse-of-power\/\">conducted<\/a> searches at Moldatsa\u2019s headquarters as part of an investigation into allegations of abuse of office under aggravating circumstances. At the same time, an <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-cna-has-detected-non-competitive-hiring-and-irregularities-in-acquisitions-at-moldatsa\/\">assessment<\/a> of the institution\u2019s integrity revealed hiring without competitive selection, discretionary bonuses and vulnerabilities in public procurement. Members of Parliament <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/deputies-demand-an-audit-at-moldatsa-but-the-court-of-accounts-invokes-the-activity-plan\/\">requested<\/a> that the Court of Auditors conduct an audit of the company, but the Court stated that it cannot do so this year because the audit plan for 2026 has already been approved. Meanwhile, Dorin Recean <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/dorin-recean-my-mandate-at-moldatsa-ends-in-august-after-the-restructuring-of-the-company\/\">stated<\/a> that his term on Moldatsa\u2019s Board of Directors expires in August and that restructuring the company remains his goal.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>MAIA State Secretary detained by the CNA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tatiana Nistorica, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, and a representative of a business entity were <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/cna-conducts-searches-at-the-ministry-of-agriculture\/\">detained<\/a> in connection with a corruption case. According to the National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA), the businessman allegedly offered money to the official to influence decisions by the National Agency for Food Safety regarding the resumption of animal feed imports from Ukraine, which had previously been suspended due to irregularities detected during inspections. In light of this, Minister Ludmila Catlabuga <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-minister-of-agriculture-initiates-the-dismissal-of-the-state-secretary-detained-in-a-corruption-case\/\">initiated<\/a> proceedings to dismiss the State Secretary.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The President proposes mandatory vetting for key positions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Maia Sandu <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/maia-sandu-proposes-the-mandatory-requirement-of-sis-and-cna-approvals-for-appointments-to-key-positions-within-state-institutions\/\">proposes<\/a> that SIS and CNA vetting become mandatory for appointments to key positions in state institutions and has called for an audit of all state-owned enterprises. At the same time, the head of state has called for the restructuring of the Public Property Agency into two entities: one to manage enterprises with growth potential and another responsible for the state\u2019s other assets.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Three PAS members expelled from the party<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mihai Bondari, Petru Bondari and Lilia Coica were <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/three-pas-members-expelled-from-the-party-amid-suspicions-of-conflict-of-interest\/\">expelled<\/a> from the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) amid suspicions of a conflict of interest related to sand mining operations in Cosnita and Parata, Dubasari District. PAS leader Igor Grosu, Speaker of Parliament, stated that the party takes responsibility for the mistakes it has made. At the same time, he called for Petru Bondari\u2019s resignation as director of Metalferos and for a review of high salaries at state-owned enterprises.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bishop Antonie of Balti, elected Metropolitan of Bessarabia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bishop Antonie of Balti was <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/bishop-antonie-of-balti-elected-metropolitan-of-basarabia\/\">elected<\/a> Archbishop of Chisinau, Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Regions. The decision was made by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church during a meeting presided over by Patriarch Daniel. Bishop Veniamin of Southern Bessarabia also ran for the same position, but the members of the Holy Synod designated Bishop Antonie to lead the Metropolis of Bessarabia by secret ballot.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Unions criticize the vacation reform<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unions have <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-unions-oppose-the-proposal-to-change-the-method-of-calculating-annual-leave\/\">criticized<\/a> the vacation reform, which calls for a shift from 28 calendar days to 22 working days, and have <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/trade-unions-contest-the-leave-reform-and-demand-the-projects-expertise-by-the-ilo\/\">requested<\/a> that international organizations review the draft legislation. On the other hand, the Ministry of Labor maintains that the actual duration of vacation remains unchanged, only the method of calculation has changed. Proposals to introduce a minimum retirement age of 45 for military personnel and civil servants with special status have also been criticized. The authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-reform-of-military-pensions-aims-to-retain-experienced-personnel-minister\/\">state<\/a> that the measure aims to retain experienced staff. At the same time, the Ministry of Finance <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-state-renounces-the-proposal-to-tax-money-received-at-weddings-and-christenings\/\">announced<\/a> that it is abandoning the proposal to tax money received at family events.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>European Commissioner for the Environment in Chisinau<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">European Commissioner for the Environment Jessika Roswall <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/european-commissioner-a-green-moldova-is-a-stronger-candidate-for-eu-membership\/\">stated<\/a> that the EU is ready to support environmental projects in the Republic of Moldova through the 1.9 billion euro Growth Plan. She noted that a green Moldova means a more prosperous economy and a stronger candidate for EU membership. According to the official, European <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/green-investments-and-sustainable-financing-discussed-at-the-green-finance-and-investment-forum-moldova\/\">support<\/a> will focus on the green transition, including investments in environmental infrastructure, energy efficiency and water resource management.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Work on the Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line has been completed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction work on the 400-kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau overhead power line and related infrastructure has been <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-works-on-the-vulcanesti-chisinau-power-line-completed-the-project-enters-testing\/\">completed<\/a>, and the project has now entered the technical testing phase prior to commissioning. The testing is being conducted in coordination with the transmission system operators in Romania and Ukraine to ensure the safety of the procedures and to verify the operating modes of the national power system.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Energocom is looking for a director<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Energocom has <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/energocom-announces-a-competition-for-the-position-of-general-director\/\">announced<\/a> a competition to fill the position of general director of the company. Candidates must be citizens of the Republic of Moldova, hold a college degree in economics, finance, energy or law, and have at least five years of relevant experience in these fields within the last ten years.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Student scholarships have been increased<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scholarships for undergraduate students in all fields of study will be <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-scholarships-of-undergraduate-students-will-increase-by-at-least-40-from-september-1\/\">increased<\/a> by at least 40% starting September 1. At the same time, the criteria for awarding scholarships are being adjusted.
