Last week, emergency medical teams intervened in 19 cases due to high temperatures. 13 people suffered from heatstroke, and six lost consciousness. Doctors warn that heatstroke is a medical emergency, and rapid recognition of symptoms and prompt intervention can prevent severe complications, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
The patients were aged between 12 and 82 years old. After first aid was administered at the scene, ten people were transported to the hospital for further examination and treatment.<\/p>\n\n
Doctors specify that the main signs of heatstroke are a body temperature over 40 degrees Celsius, severe headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, confusion, rapid breathing, and loss of consciousness. In such situations, the person must be immediately taken to a cool place, hydrated, and cooled down by applying cold compresses or other methods of lowering body temperature. If symptoms persist or the condition worsens, an ambulance must be called at the unique number 112.<\/p>\n\n
In the context of high temperatures, IMSP CNAMUP recommends consuming at least two to three liters of fluids per day, avoiding exposure to the sun between the hours of 11:00 AM-04:00 PM, wearing loose and light-colored clothing, as well as limiting intense physical effort. At the same time, people are urged to avoid consuming alcohol and drinks with a high caffeine content, as these promote dehydration.
