A company from the Republic of Moldova is being investigated for the illegal export of dual-use equipment to entities in the Russian Federation under international sanctions. As part of the case, PCCOCS prosecutors and officers from the Information and Security Service conducted searches at the company’s headquarters and at the residences of the targeted individuals, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
According to SIS and the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes, the scheme would have been operational since 2022 and would have targeted the export of control and measurement systems for training and combat aircraft engines to companies affiliated with the Russian Federation’s military-industrial complex. The total value of exports exceeds 21 million lei.<\/p>\n\n
Law enforcement officials claim that in order to conceal the real destination of the goods, they were declared to customs authorities as “waste recycling devices”, and the ultimate beneficiary was concealed through a company established in the Russian Federation.<\/p>\n\n
Following the six searches carried out on June 24, law enforcement officials seized components of control and measurement systems, computer equipment, mobile phones, technical documents and contracts deemed relevant for the investigation.
