According to regional authorities, traffic is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. In 2025, 666 people were reported injured in accidents involving electric scooters, representing a 26% increase from the previous year. In addition to road safety risks, officials also complain about scooters being abandoned or parked improperly, which hampers pedestrian traffic.<\/p>\n\n

The regional government also invokes the fact that these vehicles are increasingly used in the commission of crimes, including by drug trafficking networks. At the same time, bicycle rental services will continue to operate in Brussels, being considered an easier to manage alternative.<\/p>\n\n
