Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that the project for a luxury resort complex on Sazan Island will go ahead, despite protests and opposition from environmental activists and certain civic groups. The project is being developed by a company founded by Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, according to IPN, citing Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

The resort is expected to include luxury hotels, villas, and tourist facilities on the Sazan Island in the Adriatic Sea, as well as on the shore, in a protected natural area, where flamingo birds and sea turtles live. The company affiliated with Kushner wants to invest four billion dollars there. Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the investment will bring significant economic benefits to Albania, including jobs and tourism revenue. He argued that the project will be carried out in compliance with environmental standards.<\/p>\n\n

Opponents of the project, who have taken to the streets of the capital Tirana and other cities in Albania by the thousands day after day, argue that the protected area will be completely destroyed.
