According to preliminary results published by the Central Election Commission, she received 51.23% of the vote in the second round of the new local elections. Her opponent, independent candidate Alexandr Borimecicov, received 48.77% of the vote, IPN reports.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the election campaign, Ecaterina Iacobceac promised social support for retirees and young families, road repairs and the modernization of street lighting, as well as programs to support local businesses. Additionally, her announced priorities include strengthening relations with Bulgaria and ensuring transparent administration of the city government.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ecaterina Iacobceac is the chair of the PSRM\u2019s Taraclia regional branch and has served as mayor of the village of Novosiolovca since 2015, having been re-elected in the 2023 local elections. She holds a college degree in management and regularly participates in training courses on public administration and education.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to election law, once the results have been tallied, the district election commission confirms the election results and validates the mandate of the elected mayor within 10 days of the election date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Socialist Party candidate, Ecaterina Iacobceac, has won the mayoral election in Taraclia.
