The new model of the driving license is almost impossible to forge. The assurances are given by the director of the Public Services Agency, Mircea Esanu. According to the official, the document includes dozens of new security elements and a QR code that allows for quick verification of information about the driver and the status of the license, IPN reports.<\/p>\n\n
The head of the ASP noted that a large part of the elements used in the old model of driving licenses are already outdated from a technological point of view. “The old licenses were produced as plastic with the technology and design of 9 years ago. We have almost 2.3 million citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have the right to drive, from motorcycles to trucks and trolleybuses”, the head of the ASP said during the “Cabinetul din Umbra” show on JurnalTV.<\/p>\n\n
The official stated that the need to increase the level of security comes against the backdrop of numerous attempts to forge driving licenses, especially for their use abroad.<\/p>\n\n
“We are a very mobile population, including abroad. Most forgery attempts are on driving licenses, not on passports or ID cards. The ID card is only valid on the territory of the country where you live. The license is the most requested document in case of employment abroad. That is why we have placed a QR code on the back of the license that reads the full information, category, restrictions. You can have a license, but it can be suspended. These are the things that are shown when the license is scanned”, explained Mircea Esanu.<\/p>\n\n
According to the head of the ASP, the permits currently in circulation will remain valid until the expiration of the term written on the document.
