The most important news from the IPN feed<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Balan, pardoned and transferred to Belarus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alexandru Balan, the former deputy head of the Intelligence and Security Service, convicted of attempted disclosure of state secrets, was <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/alexandru-balan-pardoned-by-maia-sandu-to-be-transferred-to-belarus\/\">pardoned<\/a> to be transferred to Belarus as part of an international exchange of persons. The <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/exclusive-ipn-how-did-alexandru-balan-end-up-in-the-russian-federation\/\">operation<\/a> involved Moldova, Russia, the USA, Poland, Belarus and Romania. Following the exchange, two SIS officers <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-two-sis-officers-have-returned-to-the-republic-of-moldova\/\">returned<\/a> to Moldova.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Drone spotted in the center of the capital and one in Telenesti<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A damaged drone was found on the roof of a block of flats in the Center sector of the capital, which did not contain <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-drone-detected-in-the-central-sector-of-the-capital-does-not-contain-explosives\/\">explosives<\/a>, according to the police. The General Inspectorate of Police stated that the components are being examined to determine its structure and origin. A few days later, another component of an aircraft was <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/components-of-a-drone-detected-on-a-field-in-telenesti\/\">found<\/a> in a field in the village of Banestii Noi, Telenesti district, and the Ministry of Defense states that it is the drone that <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/ma-the-drone-found-in-telenesti-is-the-one-that-flew-over-the-airspace-on-march-30th\/\">flew over<\/a> Moldova&#8217;s airspace without authorization at the end of March.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>National State Flag Day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Republic of Moldova <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/national-flag-day-is-celebrated-today\/\">marked<\/a> 36 years since the adoption of the tricolor as a symbol of sovereignty, independence and national identity. President Maia Sandu <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-right-to-hoist-the-tricolor-was-won-through-courage-and-sacrifice-maia-sandu\/\">noted<\/a> that the flag represents freedom won with sacrifices and the unity of citizens, and the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/state-flag-day-ceremony-the-symbol-that-unites-and-reminds-of-the-journey-taken\/\">highlighted<\/a> its role in remembering the path to independence. On this occasion, the Ministry of Education and Research offered over 330 <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/over-330-flags-were-presented-to-high-schools-across-the-country-on-the-occasion-of-the-national-flag-day\/\">flags<\/a> to high schools in the country.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More expensive transportation in the capital<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From May 1, a <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/from-may-1-the-public-transport-journey-in-chisinau-costs-7-lei\/\">trip<\/a> on public transport in Chisinau costs 7 lei, one leu more. The tariffs for subscriptions have also been increased, by up to 17%, but those purchased until this date remain valid. The measure is motivated by the increase in fuel prices.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Arrest warrant issued for fugitive Shor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/arrest-warrant-issued-for-fugitive-ilan-shor-authorities-request-his-notification-in-russia\/\">arrest<\/a> warrant has been issued for fugitive Ilan Shor in a criminal case involving illegal financing of a political party by an organized criminal group. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office announces that it has sent a request for international legal assistance to the Russian Federation, requesting that the defendant be informed of the court&#8217;s decision.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Alexandru Machidon, officially appointed Prosecutor General<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decree on the appointment of Alexandru Machidon as Prosecutor General was <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/alexandru-machidon-officially-appointed-as-attorney-general\/\">signed<\/a> by President Maia Sandu. On the same day, the inauguration <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/maia-sandu-at-the-inauguration-of-the-new-prosecutor-general-trust-in-justice-must-be-regained\/\">ceremony<\/a> took place in the presence of President Maia Sandu. The Head of State noted that the fight against corruption and organized crime must remain the main priority of the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office. The decree on the appointment of Alexandru Machidon as Prosecutor General was signed by President Maia Sandu. The Head of State noted that the fight against corruption and organized crime must remain the main priority of the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Gagauzia&#8217;s electoral legislation could be unified with the national one<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chisinau could initiate a package of <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/chisinau-would-prepare-the-unification-of-the-electoral-legislation-from-gagauzia-with-the-national-one-sources\/\">measures<\/a> in the coming period to bring the electoral legislation in Gagauzia in line with national norms. The central authorities are considering several scenarios for implementing these changes: either through legislative interventions at the national level or by adjusting the legal framework of the region in dialogue with the authorities in Comrat. The intention is that any changes will be made in time for the organization of the elections in Gagauzia this autumn.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tiraspol, against VAT for economic agents<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tiraspol calls on Chisinau to abandon the announced fiscal measures for enterprises on the left bank of the Dniester. The so-called Supreme Soviet sent an <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/tiraspol-asks-chisinau-to-abandon-the-new-taxes-for-the-enterprises-on-the-left-bank\/\">address<\/a> to the Parliament, in the context of the adoption of the draft law that provides for the introduction of VAT and excise duties for economic agents in the region. The draft law that provides for the elimination of fiscal facilities for the Transnistrian region was <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-parliament-abolishes-tax-benefits-for-the-transnistrian-region\/\">approved<\/a> by the Parliament in the final reading.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More expensive public transport trips in the Transnistrian region<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Urban public transport in the Transnistrian region is becoming more expensive. According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/public-urban-transport-in-the-transnistrian-region-is-getting-more-expensive\/\">decision<\/a> of the Tiraspol administration, the fare will increase by 47 kopecks (approximately 9.4%). The increase is explained by the increase in fuel prices, which represent a significant part of the expenses of transport operators.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Durlesti mayor released from house arrest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eleonora Saran, the mayor of Durlesti, who is suspected in a corruption case, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-mayor-of-durlesti-released-from-house-arrest-and-placed-under-judicial-control\/\">released<\/a> from house arrest and placed under judicial control. According to prosecutors, he, while intoxicated, allegedly fired seven shots from his personal weapon inside the institution. The incident occurred in December, after a party organized on the occasion of the National Police Day.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Victims and infrastructure damaged due to strong winds<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The strong winds caused dozens of <a href=\"https:\/\/ipn.md\/en\/the-wind-wreaked-havoc-across-the-country-trees-knocked-down-people-injured-and-one-deceased\/\">incidents<\/a> across the country, affecting infrastructure and power supply in over a hundred localities.
