Public organizations “Independent Press Association” (API) and “Media Guard” withdraw their recommendation for the position of member of the Audiovisual Council (AC), offered to Eugeniu Ribca at the competition for the selection of AC members, held in November-December 2021 by the Parliament’s Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and Media, and ask him to resign, IPN reports.<\/p>\n\n
In a press release, the Independent Press Association claims that the decision of the two civil society organizations to withdraw the support of Eugeniu Ribca for the position of member of the Board of Directors was taken by the boards of API and Media Guard, “as a result of the analysis of his activity as a member of the Board of Directors, the attitude manifested and the positions adopted on some topics discussed at the public meetings of the Board of Directors”.<\/p>\n\n
“Noting that Eugeniu Ribca’s actions as a member of the Board of Directors contradict the principles promoted by the two associations, including the objectives of combating disinformation and pro-Kremlin propaganda, supporting transparency of media ownership, journalistic ethics and media education, API and Media Guard withdrew his recommendation for the position of member of the Board of Directors and informed him about this on February 3, 2025,” the statement said.<\/p>\n\n
The two organizations declare publicly that Eugeniu Ribca no longer has the recommendation required by the conditions of the competition on the basis of which he was selected as a member of the CA. “Reminding him that, when he offered the letter of recommendation, he promised, on his own initiative, that he would submit his mandate if so requested by both associations that submitted him, API and Media Guard ask Mr. Eugeniu Ribca to fulfill his promise and submit his mandate as member of the Audiovisual Council,” the associations say in the joint press release.<\/p>\n\n
