The fare for public transportation in Chisinau will be increased starting from May 1st. According to the City Hall, a journey will cost 7 lei, compared to the current 6 lei, the measure being determined by the recent increase in fuel prices, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
According to the authorities, the increase in tariffs adheres to the methodology approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council on June 13, 2022, which establishes the calculation and update of public transportation costs. The change is based on the evolution of economic indicators, including the consumer price index, using a reference value for the calculation of a journey.<\/p>\n\n
The municipal authorities specify that the increase in the tariff reflects the significant rise in operating costs, especially the price of fuels, which have almost doubled, affecting the functioning of public transportation.<\/p>\n\n
