The launch of the Balti-Suceava electric line will provide the Republic of Moldova with total energy independence. The statement belongs to Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and was made during an interview granted to TVR station during his official visit to Bucharest, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
In the context of the bombings in Ukraine, which severely damaged the Isaccea-Vulcanesti power line, the prime minister explained the impact of this incident on the country’s energy security.<\/p>\n\n
“The Isaccea-Vulcanesti line is our main line, so when it was hit, we realized we had a shortage of about 400 MW during peak hours. 400 MW is a lot for the Republic of Moldova”, mentioned Alexandru Munteanu.<\/p>\n\n
The CEO clarified that to eliminate these risks, the energy connection with Romania, through the Balti-Suceava power line, is crucial. “We will achieve total independence when we launch the Balti-Suceava line, which will bypass the 40-kilometer section that passes through Ukrainian territory”, explained Alexandru Munteanu.<\/p>\n\n
The Prime Minister clarified that the authorities are preparing to launch the works of the Balti-Suceava line in the near future, parallel to the development of other energy sources.<\/p>\n\n
“It will take some time until this project is completed. We are launching this project in a few months. We will try to speed up as much as possible. In the meantime, we are trying to create alternative sources, such as renewables.
