According to Iranian authorities, together with Ali Larijani, his son Morteza was also killed, as well as his deputy security chief, Alireza Bayat, along with Gholamreza Soleimani, the commander of the Basij paramilitary unit. Their funeral will take place on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n

Meanwhile, Iran has launched new airstrikes against Israel in retaliation for the killing of Ali Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani. At least two people were reported killed in the attacks, according to Al Jazeera<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

Throughout his career, Ali Larijani has held several high-ranking positions, including that of Minister of Culture and President of the Parliament. In 2005, he was appointed Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, a position from which he resigned two years later, returning subsequently in August 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
