The Mayor of Durlesti, Eleonora Saran, detained in a fraud case, will remain in custody for another 30 days in Penitentiary 13. The decision was made after the Central Court of Appeal rejected the lawyer’s appeal and upheld the decision of the first instance court. The information was confirmed for IPN by lawyer Sorin Tighinean.<\/p>\n\n

The decision of the appellate court is irrevocable and cannot be challenged.<\/p>\n\n

According to the lawyer, there were no legal arguments for rejecting the appeal. Sorin Tighinean reiterated that there is no evidence to demonstrate Eleonora Saran’s involvement in land embezzlement schemes. Previously, the lawyer had also stated that there were no legal grounds for searches, detention, and preventive arrest of the officials from Durlesti.<\/p>\n\n

On February 27, the National Anti-Corruption Center conducted over 50 searches in a criminal case regarding the dispossession of lands within the city limits of Durlesti, Chisinau municipality, by the local public administration.
