The Supreme Court of Justice has rejected the request of the lawyers of former President Igor Dodon to recuse the panel of judges in the “Black Bag” case. The decision was pronounced on March 4, the request being examined by another panel of judges, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n

The defendant’s lawyers have invoked<\/a> alleged procedural violations by the panel of judges composed of Stella Ble\u0219ceaga, Ghenadie Eremciuc, and Vladislav Gribincea. The defense accused the panel of acting in favor of the prosecution and to the detriment of the defense. Moreover, one of the defenders stated that he felt pressured and intimidated by the judges.<\/p>\n\n

However, the magistrates mentioned that the request is unfounded and they rejected it.<\/p>\n\n

This is not the first attempt by the defense to recuse this panel of judges, the request having been rejected in the past as well.<\/p>\n\n

Igor Dodon is accused of treason, passive corruption, illicit enrichment, and acceptance of party funding from an organized criminal group. Prosecutors allege that Dodon would have requested over a million dollars from Vlad Plahotniuc for promoting the political interests of the PDM.
