February 20th is the final day for submitting bids for the modernization of the Balti Electric Station, within the framework of the construction project for the Balti\u2013Suceava 400 kV overhead line, supported by European funding. The deadline was mentioned by the Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, during the debates in the plenary of the Parliament regarding the simple motion submitted by the opposition on the policies in the energy sector, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
When asked about the stage of the project, the minister clarified that the bidding for the actual construction of the line has ended, and the evaluation report is nearing completion and is to be submitted to the European Bank for Construction and Development.<\/p>\n\n
Considering the strategic value of the project, Dorin Junghietu said that bidders were asked to obtain the approval of the Council for the examination of investments important for state security. “It is very important to be sure that the contractor who will build this line is in good faith and does not have unfriendly companies in its shareholding,” the official declared.<\/p>\n\n
Regarding the component that aims at modernizing the power stations included in the project, other than the one in Balti, the minister emphasized that work is being done on the specifications for launching the tenders.<\/p>\n\n
The Balti-Suceava line will have a length of approximately 48 km and will cross 12 localities in the Glodeni, Falesti, Rascani districts and the city of Balti. From the Balti Power Station, the line will extend to the interconnection point with Romania’s electric power transport network.<\/p>\n\n
The estimated completion date of the project is the end of 2027 – the beginning of 2028, stated the Minister of Energy.<\/p>\n\n
The total budget is 77 million euros and is covered by a grant of 15.4 million euros awarded by the European Union, a loan of 30.8 million euros from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and another loan of 30.8 million euros from the European Investment Bank.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
