The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, delivered a New Year’s Eve message focused on societal unity and responsibility towards the country, highlighting that the year 2025, marked by challenges and attempts at division, revealed the courage, dignity, and solidarity of the Moldovans. The transition into 2026 should be made with confidence and hope for a “gentler” year, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
In her address to the citizens, the head of state highlighted that the year coming to an end was a “courageous” one and a year of dignity, given that the state institutions acted with patriotism and responsibility, but also a year of solidarity and mutual trust.<\/p>\n\n
“We have trusted each other and our country, we have strengthened our belief that Moldova deserves and can be a good country for its families, for children and the elderly, for strong traditions, but also for groundbreaking innovations,” the president declared.<\/p>\n\n
At the same time, Maia Sandu referred to the major challenges of 2025, noting that these sometimes put society “on the barricades”. She spoke about implications intended to divide and provoke conflicts among citizens. “We had fights imposed by others to divide and quarrel us,” the head of state declared.<\/p>\n\n
The President expressed her hope that the year 2026 will bring more peace and stability, both for each family and for the country as a whole.<\/p>\n\n
Maia Sandu symbolically invoked winter traditions, such as Plugusorul and Sorcova, wishing citizens that these “fill our homes with confidence in the future”, referring to the values that strengthen identity and community cohesion.<\/p>\n\n
The President emphasized that holidays represent a moment of reflection and return to the essential things – the well-being of families and peace in homes. In her message, Maia Sandu also addressed those who work on New Year’s Eve, in hospitals or emergency services, urging simple gestures of solidarity, such as a hug or a good thought for those nearby.<\/p>\n\n
In the end, the head of state conveyed a message of collective responsibility and joint effort. “Together, we will solve them all, one by one,” said Maia Sandu. The President appealed for unity and civic involvement at the beginning of the new year and urged citizens to take care of each other and the country – “these are the most precious things.”<\/p>\n\n
