Passenger transporters request a meeting with Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, otherwise they threaten with protests again. In an open letter, they refer to a project to amend the Road Transport Code (RTC), which, in their opinion, could prompt transport operators to stage protest demonstrations, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
The Road Transport Operators’ Employers’ Association (APOTA) mentioned in its approach to the prime minister that, on December 17, it received from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development a project to amend the CTR. According to APOTA, the project has nothing to do with the real issues in the sector. The open letter states that “some phrases in the project rather reflect the desire to camouflage previous mistakes, associated with the intention to simulate a reform promotion activity and to maintain the real causes of the problems, which in fact allow the continuation of corruption schemes”.<\/p>\n\n
“Until the real issues in the sector are discussed and identified, until we determine what aspects of ANTA’s activity need to be corrected based on legislation, what levers MIDR needs to use according to CTR provisions and, finally, what current CTR provisions urgently need to be changed, we cannot move forward and we cannot say that we intend to promote reforms in the sector”, is stated in APOTA’s approach.<\/p>\n\n
The last series of protests by transporters took place in the summer. Then, the Employers’ Association of Auto Transport Operators invoked their disagreement with the policies of the Government, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.<\/p>\n\n
Until the news was published, the MIDR did not have an official reaction.
