Victor Sterpu has defeated Magamed Borchashvili from Austria, Dimitri Gochilaidze from Georgia, Gadzidavud Gasanov from Bahrain, and Timo Cavelius from Germany, notes the National Olympic and Sports Committee.<\/p>\n\n
In the semifinals, the judoka from the Republic of Moldova was defeated by the future winner of the competition in this weight category, the Canadian Fran\u00e7ois Drapeau.<\/p>\n\n
The Abu Dhabi tournament took place from November 28th to 30th.<\/p>\n\n
Victor Sterpu is the first judoka to bring a European senior title to the Republic of Moldova, winning the gold medal at the European Championship in Prague, in 2020, in the 73 kg category.
