The economic and investment priorities of the Republic of Moldova, bilateral relations, and the support of international partners for the country’s European path were topics discussed during the meetings that Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu had at the Government with the ambassadors of Italy and Canada in the Republic of Moldova.<\/p>\n\n

In the discussion with the Italian ambassador, Giuseppe Maria Perricone, the prime minister emphasized the importance of Moldovan-Italian relations and the contribution of the diaspora to strengthening the ties between the two states.<\/p>\n\n

“Italy remains a good friend and a strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova, and our ties are very close, including due to our numerous diaspora in Italy, which contributes to the economy of both states,” declared Alexandru Munteanu.<\/p>\n\n

Ambassador Giuseppe Maria Perricone confirmed Italy’s readiness to continue supporting the Republic of Moldova on the path of European integration, in the field of social protection and projects aimed at the welfare of citizens.<\/p>\n\n

In the last four years, the political dialogue between Chi\u0219in\u0103u and Rome has significantly intensified. Among the recent achievements are the Social Security Agreement, which allows, starting from September 1st, the payment of pensions for Moldovans who have worked in Italy, as well as the Agreement on the conversion of driving licenses, which came into effect on November 8th.<\/p>\n\n

At the same time, the Republic of Moldova has benefited from Italian foreign aid amounting to over 90 million euros, aimed at supporting vulnerable families in paying their energy bills.<\/p>\n\n

During another meeting, Prime Minister Munteanu discussed with the Canadian Ambassador, Gavin Buchan, about the joint projects in the field of energy and rural development.<\/p>\n\n

In 2024, Canada provided financial support of 88 million dollars to strengthen the energy sector and funded projects dedicated to women in rural areas, aiming at their involvement in agriculture and forestry.<\/p>\n\n

Also, in July 2025, a declaration of intent was signed regarding a pension agreement between the two countries, a document whose official signing is planned for the upcoming period.<\/p>\n\n

“After a period marked by crises, we are now focused on development and achieving our national goal – joining the European Union,” confirmed the head of the cabinet of ministers.<\/p>\n\n

The two meetings highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, attracting foreign investments, and diversifying partnerships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
