A Romanian citizen who worked for 40 years and had a gross salary of 5,000 Romanian lei will receive a pension of approximately 2,495 lei per month, equivalent to almost 9,700 Moldovan lei, according to a simulation based on the new formula for calculating public pensions, IPN reports.<\/p>\n\n

The calculation is made by multiplying the total number of points accumulated throughout the career by the reference point value, set at 81 lei, according to Mediafax<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

For a salary of 5,000 lei, compared to the average gross salary of 6,500 lei, this results in 0.77 pension points per year. In 40 years of work, the person accumulates 30.8 pension points, which is equivalent to a monthly pension of approximately 2,495 Romanian lei.<\/p>\n\n

To be eligible for an old-age pension, a person must meet two conditions: the standard retirement age\u201465 for men and 63 for women\u2014and a full 35 years of contributions.<\/p>\n\n

In the Republic of Moldova, the average pension is 4,407 Moldovan lei after indexation in April this year. The retirement age is 63 for men and 61 years and 6 months for women, with a contribution period of 34 years. The retirement age for women will gradually increase by six months each year, until it equals that of men starting July 1, 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
