A total of 110 Roma students and pupils will benefit from merit scholarships worth 1,200 lei per month, until the end of the current academic year. The scholarships are offered by the Ministry of Education and Research, with the aim of encouraging Roma youth to continue their studies. The candidates were selected through a competition, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
“In recent years, the interest of young Roma in education is continually growing. If in 2023 we had 49 beneficiaries, and in 2024 – 94, this year the number of scholarship recipients has reached 110. It is clear evidence that, when we offer real support and trust, the results do not delay in appearing,” stated the Minister of Education and Research, Dan Perciun, quoted in a press release.<\/p>\n\n
The majority of scholarships, 39, are granted to Roma students from high school education. In post-secondary technical education, 30 scholarships were offered, in higher education – 24, and another 17 scholarships go to students pursuing secondary technical studies.<\/p>\n\n
