The Home Democracy Party, led by Vasile Costiuc, has signed a collaboration protocol with the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, whose leader is George Simion. Although, during the electoral campaign for the parliamentary elections in September, Vasile Costiuc avoided confirming the existence of direct links with the AUR leader, he now says that the document, signed in Bucharest, represents a new chapter for unity and collaboration, reports IPN.<\/p>\n\n
In the statement issued by Costiuc’s formation, it is specified that the signing of the protocol symbolizes “the rebuilding of a bridge between the Romanians from the country and those from Bessarabia, after a period in which relations were severely affected due to the interference of the Chisinau regime in the elections in Romania and the lack of transparency of the Bucharest government regarding support for the Republic of Moldova”.<\/p>\n\n
PDA states that, like AUR, it was the target of a “campaign of disinformation and public lynching”, but managed to overcome the administrative and political obstacles during the campaign.<\/p>\n\n
The signing of the protocol takes place shortly after the validation of the election results and the entry of the PDA into the Parliament of Chisinau. During the campaign, the party was accused of having benefited from covert support from AUR, including through public messages of support from George Simion, declared persona non grata in the Republic of Moldova until 2028, for reasons of national security.<\/p>\n\n
Then, Vasile Costiuc rejected the accusations of political collaboration, asserting that there is “no camouflaged block” and that he does not have access to the accounts where his picture appeared alongside George Simion, even on election day.<\/p>\n\n
George Simion, the leader of AUR, remains banned on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the authorities justifying the decision by “risks to national security”.
