The head of the executive emphasized the identity-building and unifying power of the Romanian language, regardless of where it is spoken, IPN reports.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Wherever we are, the Romanian language defines us as a nation, strengthens our roots, and unites us. Our ancestors fought for it, nurtured it, and passed it on to us with dignity,&#8221; the prime minister said in a message published on the occasion of the national holiday.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dorin Recean called for respect for the Romanian language through simple but essential gestures. &#8220;Let&#8217;s speak correctly, read Romanian, and be free in our language! Happy birthday, Romanian language!&#8221; concluded the prime minister.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The head of the executive branch is on an official visit to Japan, where he will inaugurate the World Expo in Osaka. On Monday, the prime minister is scheduled to meet with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba.
