The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) could win more than the current 32 seats of MP in the November 30 parliamentary elections, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.
Filat explained that the PLDM fulfilled the promises made to the voters in the 2010 parliamentary elections and has well defined objectives. “You will not find another party that assumed promises at its own risk and kept them. We promised to liberalize the visa regime and to sign the Association Agreement and we did it. We promised to reform the education sector and the Ministry of the Interior, which are very difficult areas, and we did it. In fact, I must also thank my colleagues from the coalition for this,” said the Liberal-Democratic leader.
In the same program, Vlad Filat reiterated that the head of state must be elected directly by the people. “The President must be elected by direct vote. This will give him the power needed to be a real balance and a guarantor of the Constitution. It’s not about additional powers only, but also about that moral force needed by a head of state,” he said.
The leader of the PLDM also said that the women on the party’s list of candidates will represent at least 30%. “Even is such a law does not take effect, we will anyway respect this ratio. Practice showed that things go well where there are women mayors, lawmakers or ministers,” stated Vlad Filat.
He noted that he continues to be the target of a denigration campaign. “I witnessed a lot of injustice against me and I had the right to act in a different way. But good people supported me and I went on,” he said.
