Vadim Branzan said that he collected about 5,000 signatures from supporters, which is not enough for being registered as an electoral competitor. Branzan, who intended to run as an independent, noted that now he will support the common candidate that will be proposed by the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity”, no matter who this is.
In a news conference at IPN, he thanked those who signed in favor of him, saying that even if he didn’t manage to collect the necessary number of signatures, he decided to become involved in the political life in Moldova. Building a team will be the first step that he will take in this regard.
“We are in the process of forming a team of coherent persons, who want to return home and to work for the benefit of the country. In many districts, we enjoyed considerable support and this exercise showed that the people need an alternative system, based not on the values and principles declared by some of the state officials and ‘pocket’ candidates, but on people who know exactly what is going on and want to do good things for the country. New faces are needed to offer an alternative,” stated Vadim Branzan.
He added that as a result of discussions with the people while collecting signatures, he saw the problems faced by these and decided to work out a development strategy that will envision the building of a state where the institutions work for the benefit of the people, not the people for institutions and where the capital flow and the mass media are not monopolized.
Vadim Branzan called on all those who are interested to join his team and assured that he will take an active part in the political and social life in Moldova and will create a system based on really democratic principles and values, with people who are really independent.
Speaking about the electoral legislation, Vadim Branzan said both the parties and the independent candidates that are not supported by the government and aren’t thus ‘pocket ones practically do not have chances of collecting 15,000 to 25,000 signatures for being registered as election runners during such a short period of time, given that these are treated in the same way even if they have different resources.
“Besides, we determined that about 1.4 million Moldovans were excluded from the process of supporting candidates. I refer to those from the diaspora who cannot support us. The same happens to the Transnistrians and the several hundred thousand people who do not have a residence visa. So, about 1.4 million Moldovan people were excluded from this pre-electoral candidate supporting process,” said Vadim Branzan.
