Trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine to be held in February

The trilateral meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of Moldova, Romania and Ukraine was set to take place in February, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu stated in the G7+ foreign ministers’ meeting, IPN reports, with reference to agerpres.ro.

The Romanian minister said the event will take place after the first meeting that was held in Odessa on September 15 last year to which the energy ministers of the three states were also invited. Joint lines of action were agreed in that meeting for developing interconnectivity and strengthening the energy security of Ukraine and Moldova in the medium and long terms.

The official also mentioned the special situation of the Republic of Moldova that experiences a profound energy crisis generated by limitations as regards the availability and access to resources. According to him, Romania directly contributes to the identification of solutes to the most pressing problems, such as the meeting of about 80% of the electricity needs of the Republic of Moldova and ensuring of the transit of gas to this state through the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline.
