Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti congratulated the newly elected President of Romania Klaus Iohannis on his victory in the presidential elections over the phone, IPN reports.

Timofti expressed his confidence that the relations of friendship and understanding between Moldova and Romania, which have developed considerably over the last few years, will continue to develop at the same pace, for the benefit of the people of both of the states. He also said he is sure that with Iohannis as head of state, Romania will achieve results in strengthening the rule of law and will become more prosperous and powerful.

The Moldovan head of state invited Klaus Iohannis to pay a visit to Chisinau in the near future. The new Romanian President accepted this invitation.
