According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was opened for hooliganism committed by several individuals. On the same day, the alleged assailant was detained and placed in a holding cell. Subsequently, the prosecutor in the case requested 30 days of pretrial detention, but the court ordered house arrest with electronic monitoring. The prosecutors’ appeal against this decision was rejected by the Northern Court of Appeals.

Law enforcement officials claim that, on the same day, the defendant allegedly violated the restrictions imposed on him and left his residence, a fact confirmed by electronic monitoring and data on his movements. The prosecutor requested that house arrest be replaced with pretrial detention, but the request was denied by the investigating judge.

The Prosecutor’s Office also states that it is investigating allegations of a possible violation of the victim’s rights or the exertion of pressure on the victim. At the same time, a forensic medical examination has been ordered, and the legal classification of the acts will be determined after the report on the severity of the injuries is received.

The incident took place on the night of June 29 on the terrace of a restaurant in downtown Rascani. According to the police, the restaurant manager was allegedly assaulted by two men. Video footage that later surfaced online shows the moment when the victim is knocked to the ground and repeatedly struck.

Initial news: A 23-year-old young man was found shot in a car located in a forest strip in the locality of Carbuna, Ialoveni district. The case was reported by a passerby around 01:00 PM, reports IPN.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers discovered the body of the young man in the car that was running. The victim had a gunshot wound to the head, and the weapon was found on his person.

The police determined that the weapon belonged to the victim’s father and was legally possessed.

On the scene, the operational group, forensic experts, and the coroner are active, documenting the case and establishing all the circumstances in which the incident occurred.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the suspect allegedly acted together with other individuals, each having a defined role within the criminal group. The suspects contacted the victim by phone and falsely informed them that a close relative had been involved in a road accident and urgently needed money for medical interventions.

The attempt at fraud was thwarted thanks to the vigilance of the woman, who immediately alerted the police. Following the intervention of law enforcement, the suspect was apprehended at the moment he was picking up the money sent by the victim.

According to the decision pronounced in the case “V.I. v. According to investigators, the sum was intended for organizing the party’s protests in front of several public institutions in Chisinau.

The court also admitted the civil action brought by one of the injured parties, ordering the defendant to collect over 20 thousand lei, which represents material, moral damage and legal assistance costs.

Regarding the hooliganism charge, the judges have reclassified the acts as an offense and ceased the offense proceedings, as a result of the expiration of the statute of limitations.
