The central electoral commission of the Transnistrian region has published throughout the day data regarding voter turnout, which ultimately proved to be calculated from a smaller number of voters than officially announced. Publicly, the electoral body declared that there would be approximately 395 thousand people with the right to vote in the region, reports the IPN reporter from the left bank of the Dniester.

At 10:00 AM, 19,249 voters were announced, which represented 4.91%. This percentage corresponds to an estimated number of 392,036 voters included on the lists.

At 12:00 PM, the CEC reported 48,923 voters and a turnout of 12.39%, which would already imply 394,084 voters.

However, at 02:00 PM, with 72,980 voters and a turnout of 20.1%, calculations indicate a total of approximately 363,084 voters – about 30 thousand less than the figure previously announced.

Furthermore, after 02:00 PM – the moment when the discrepancies were noticed by the anonymous local channels on Telegram – the CEC ceased to publish data regarding attendance. Until then, these were updated every two hours.

On November 30, elections are taking place in the Transnistrian region. Deputies are being elected at all levels of representation.

Starting from July 1, in the unrecognized Transnistrian region, the salaries of employees in the budget sector will be paid in two installments. Concurrently, local administrations from cities and districts have been asked to transfer substantial amounts to the general budget to cover the budget deficit, reports the IPN correspondent from the region.

According to the adopted changes, during the period of July 1st – December 31st, 2025, all payments for public sector employees in the Transnistrian region – including salaries, allowances, and severance payments – will be made twice per month: the first installment by the 20th, and the second – between the 21st and 31st of the month. The new rules apply to all those who are funded from the regional budget or extrabudgetary funds.

At the same time, the document obliges local administrations to transfer existing balances on their accounts to the central budget. For the city of Tiraspol, a specific amount has been set – 75 million rubles. If necessary, the possibility of returning part of this money to local budgets is provided, but only based on a separate decision and legislative changes.

Context about the situation in the Transnistrian region

On June 17, local authorities in the Transnistrian region convened a meeting in which they declared that the current budget cannot be executed anymore. The reasons cited are: energy crisis, geopolitical instability, and decrease in external economic activity.

According to official data, in the first five months of 2025, industrial production fell by 43%, equivalent to a loss of about 3 billion rubles (approximately 165 million euros). The largest reductions were recorded in: the energy sector: -51.5%, metallurgy: -66%, chemical industry: -68%. The volume of foreign trade decreased by 31.5%, without taking into account the cessation of electricity exports. The supply of energy resources remains uncertain, and the fulfillment of social obligations is in question.

According to the estimates presented at the meeting, the year 2026 could bring a decrease in GDP by 12% and an inflation rate of up to 16%. Even in the scenario of a partial stabilization, a real economic recovery is not foreseen.

A play inspired by the story “The Tanker’s Destiny” is put on at the Dramatic Theater in Tiraspol. The book was published in 2021, but the general public found out about it only in April 2023.

And that’s not all. It turned out that behind the pseudonym Ilya Sokolov was hidden the leader of the separatist administration in the Transnistrian region Vadim Krasnoselsky. He revealed his identity in front of the students participating in an essay contest based on his work, IPN’s correspondent reports.

What is the book about?

“The Tank Driver’s Destiny” is the story of a student, Vanea Morozov, who greeted the summer of 1941 with dreams about the future, but in just a few days he went to a tank driver’s school and then to the front. The story encompasses war, love, faith, friendship, and a detailed historical analysis of command mistakes. The genre of the work is difficult to define exactly: it is patriotic prose combined with personal reflections of the author, sprinkled with documentary inserts.

Although the initial print run of the volume was only 200 copies, “The Tank Driver’s Destiny” still went beyond the boundaries of a simple presence on the bookshelf — the story is available online and also has an audio version.

At the end of 2024, in the Transnistrian region, they considered that a single book was not enough. So, an essay contest was organized for pupils and students, inspired by the “presidential” work. In total, 190 people participated, and 58 works reached the final stage. In the spring of 2025, the winners were awarded copies of the book, signed by the author, who personally revealed his literary identity hidden behind the pseudonym.

Now, “The Tank Driver’s Destiny” is transferred to the stage. The play is put on by Dmitry Ahmadyev, who will also play the role of the main character’s father. Vanea Morozov will be played by Alexandr Malov, a student of the Institute of Arts.
