Once every three years, labor veterans and veterans from the force structures of the Republic of Moldova, including those from the army, internal affairs bodies, the National Anticorruption Center, state security bodies, and prison employees, can benefit from free treatment. From May 7, this right was also granted to veterans who are employed or engaged in entrepreneurial activities. Previously, these categories were excluded from receiving this benefit.

People with disabilities caused by war can benefit from free treatment tickets once every two years. To obtain a ticket, veterans and people with disabilities caused by war must submit an application to the territorial social insurance house at their place of residence or online, through the public services portal or on the CNAS website.

Insured individuals, for whom 3,097 tickets were purchased, will pay 20% of the price. These tickets are primarily distributed to policyholders who have pneumofibrosis caused by COVID-19 in the first months after the disease, have suffered work accidents, or have various occupational diseases. Among the priority categories are also people with disabilities, employed in the labor field, and blood donors.

The tickets can be used in the “Struguras” sanatoriums in the village of Cocieri, “Bucuria Sind” in the city of Vadul lui Voda, “Nufarul Alb” in the city of Cahul, “Codru” in the commune of Harjauca, and “Dnestr” in the city of Camenca.

At the same time, the labor veterans who are permanently employed in the workforce will have the right to benefit from a balneosanatorial treatment ticket once every three years, at their choice – either as a person insured by their basic workplace, or as a veteran of labor.

According to the project, the distinction of veterans in terms of social protection measures related to balneosanatorial treatment, based on the criterion of employment or entrepreneurial activity, is considered discriminatory.

According to statistical data, last year 4,965 sanatorium treatment tickets were used, with a total value of 57.11 million lei.

The bill, drafted by a group of PAS deputies, is set to be approved by Parliament.

Train ticket prices increase every December, both at CFR Calatori and private operators, 2025 being the third year this happens. In 2024, tickets went up by 4.6%.

This year’s update will be applied along with the entry into force of the new Train Schedule, on December 14th.

“This is the law. There will be no more expensive tickets, except those indexed with the inflation rate at mid-December,” stated for Agerpres the general director of CFR Calatori, Traian Preoteasa.

Train tickets in Romania have quadrupled in price since the summer of 2022 to the present. The most recent price increase, caused by the rise in VAT from 19% to 21%, was applied on August 1 of the current year.
