The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha has characterized the attacks as a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, as well as a direct threat to national security and the stability of the region.

The diplomacy of Doha has declared the military and security attachés of the Iranian Embassy persona non grata. The two diplomats, along with their staff, have been ordered to leave the country within 24 hours.

The effects of the attacks have spread throughout the region. The United Arab Emirates announced the interruption of operations at a gas facility, while Saudi Arabia reported intercepting drones and ballistic missiles. Fires were also reported at two refineries in Kuwait.

Qatar annually produces 77 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas, mainly used for power generation and in industry. The Ras Laffan complex primarily processes condensate, which is later transformed into refined products, including aviation fuel.
