A batch of over five tons of imported tea, which contained pesticides exceeding the allowed limit, was detained at the state border by ANSA inspectors. Out of the total amount, just over three tons were declared non-compliant. For safety reasons, it was decided to return the entire batch to the manufacturer, IPN reports.

The National Agency for Food Safety specifies that pesticide residues do not disappear through washing or heat treatment, therefore any exceedance of the limits presents risks to health.

According to laboratory analyses, the batch of tea was found to contain the pesticides Novaluron, Acetamiprid and Chlorpyrifos.

ANSA urges operators in the food industry to comply with regulations and not to introduce products on the market that exceed the maximum allowable limits of residues.

A batch of 15 tons of dill and parsley was destroyed after laboratory analyses showed the exceeding of the allowed limit for several types of pesticides harmful to health. The measure was ordered following border controls, meaning the greens did not reach the market in Moldova, reports IPN.

According to the National Agency for Food Safety, over 7.5 tons of dill and 7.5 tons of imported parsley were checked at the Leuseni border inspection post, as part of enhanced controls. The samples taken indicated exceedances of the maximum allowable limit for the pesticides Penconazol, Kresoxim-methyl and Novaluron.

The Agency specifies that the substances detected can pose severe risks to health. The entire quantity of greens was declared non-compliant and completely destroyed, under the supervision of inspectors.

During the inspection activities, a batch of black tea was also destroyed, found with similar irregularities.

ANSA warns that pesticide residues cannot be eliminated by washing or heat treatment. Any exceedance of the permitted limits represents a risk to food safety.

The National Agency for Food Safety has destroyed over 374 kilograms of tea that did not meet the food safety standards in the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.

Following the laboratory analysis carried out by ANSA, an exceedance of the maximum allowable limit for the pesticide Chlorpyrifos was identified, which may pose a risk to human health.

ANSA specifies that a batch of approximately 11 thousand tea bags was discovered at the Leuseni border crossing point. To prevent any risk to consumers, it was ordered the official retention of the batch, its sealing and destruction. The mentioned products did not reach the market.

Over a ton of black tea was destroyed due to the detection of banned pesticides in the batch. According to the National Agency for Food Safety, laboratory investigations indicated high levels of Dinotefuran, a substance prohibited in food products, reports IPN.

The inspectors carried out an unexpected check on the importer. According to ANSA, the goods were stored under conditions that prevented access to the product until the completion of the destruction procedure.

The institution mentions that in the last two years nearly 1000 samples have been analyzed, a significant part exceeding the limits. The non-compliant batches did not reach the market. In total, over 31 tons of tea were returned to the country of origin or destroyed.

Specialists warn that pesticide residues cannot be eliminated by washing or heat treatment, and any exceeding of legal limits poses risks to consumer health.
