The General Inspectorate of Police reports that the accident occurred around 7:00 PM, on the R-1 route, km 22+500 m, in the direction of Chisinau. At the scene, police preliminarily determined that a 19-year-old young man, driving a Mercedes, hit the minors who were crossing the street in a regulated manner.

As a result of the impact, the girl, aged 12, and the boy, aged 14, were urgently transported to the Straseni District Hospital in serious condition. The boy passed away in the Intensive Care Unit.

According to the IGP, the driver was tested for alcohol, the result being negative. An investigation was initiated in this case, and the driver was to be detained.
