The former prime minister also mentioned the tax reform, which he described as one of the most difficult reforms a government can undertake. He argued that the project was professionally developed and subjected to public consultations in order to improve it, rejecting claims that the reform was hastily imposed or dictated by the International Monetary Fund.

He noted that, in agreement with the IMF, the approval of the new program for the Republic of Moldova was postponed from July to September to allow for further consultations on the tax reform. He expressed hope that the new government would see this process through to the end.

The 472 tenants from the apartments at staircase 2 of the block, who have so far moved on stairs, will benefit from a modern and safe elevator. The general mayor, Ion Ceban, specifies that the project includes the design, delivery, installation, and testing of the new elevator. The mayor mentions that the works are expected to be completed by the end of August 2026.

According to the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning, over 270 elevators will be repaired by the end of the year. In Chisinau, 291 elevators have already been repaired.

The National Road Administration specifies that the bridge was built in 1975 and has never undergone major repairs. Since then, the bridge’s structure has deteriorated due to environmental factors and traffic, and its characteristics no longer meet current road and pedestrian safety standards. The new bridge will be nearly 60 meters long and 12 meters wide, and will be intended for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

According to the authorities, a temporary bypass road is currently being set up and the necessary road signage is being installed for traffic diversion during the works. The temporary road will be 190 meters long, with two lanes each 3.5 meters wide, and will be asphalted.

According to the feasibility study, two national development options were analyzed. The authors recommend prioritizing regionalization, supplemented with local systems for localities where connection to the regional infrastructure is not justified from a technical-economic point of view. The solution offers the best balance between investment costs, operating expenses, and implementation feasibility and allows the majority of the population to connect to regional systems.

At the same time, in the full regionalization version, 1742 localities are expected to be supplied from regional systems, approximately 8050 kilometers of new distribution networks and about 1557 kilometers of transport mains to be built. The total cost of the investments is estimated at approximately 4.5 billion euros, and the annual operating and maintenance expenses – at about 102 million euros.

MIDR specifies that the feasibility study represents the technical and economic foundation for the elaboration of the specialized section “Water and Sanitation” of the National Land Planning Plan, a strategic document that will guide the long-term development of water supply and sewerage infrastructure. The Ministry invites public authorities, water and sewerage service operators, professional organizations and experts to examine the document and submit proposals and observations until August 15.

According to MIDR, the observations will be analyzed and, as appropriate, integrated into the final version of the study, which will form the basis for decisions regarding investments and the development of water and sanitation infrastructure at a national level.

As of Wednesday, in the city of Nisporeni, the modernization works of the infrastructure in the Satul Nou neighborhood have begun. The investment, worth over 22 million lei, includes the rehabilitation of pedestrian paths, improving access to the kindergarten, and the arrangement of public spaces in the area.

Both projects are carried out within the framework of the regional development program, with the support of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and local public authorities.

The report was presented during the meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Public Finance Control. The head of the audit team from the Court of Accounts, Elizaveta Munteanu, stated that problems were identified in several regional water and sewerage projects, including in Hâncești and Florești, but also in some local projects implemented through the “European Village” program.

According to her, the nonconformities in the technical documentation have led to increased costs and delays in project implementation. The audit also highlighted the wear and tear of the existing infrastructure, including sewerage and water supply pipes, as well as malfunctions of some pumping stations.

The Director of the Central Regional Development Agency, Ion Pinzari, acknowledged that the rate of population connection to water and sewage systems remains low after the completion of projects. He explained that regional agencies build the main infrastructure, and subsequently the objectives are passed on to local public authorities and service operators.

The Director of ADR Nord, Maria Prisacari, clarified that the connection of households to networks is not financed from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, but usually takes place after the completion of the works. According to her, local authorities have five years to reach the planned connection level, and the recently completed projects are still in the monitoring period.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, at the beginning of the year, 68.2% of households had access to an aqueduct, and 66% had sewage facilities.

According to the authorities, by signing the convention, the parties commit to collaborating for the development of a more competitive transport and infrastructure sector, with a stable working environment focused on protecting the rights of employees.

The new agreement replaces the one signed in 2022. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, the document includes new elements such as the organization of coordinated border control, the expansion of European financing, and the integration into the project of the last section of the A8 Targu Mures-Iasi-Ungheni Motorway, the first sector of the future Ungheni-Chisinau-Odesa Motorway, and the Beresti multimodal logistics terminal.

According to the agreement, Romania will finance the construction of the bridge over the Prut, the related infrastructure, the border crossing point on its territory, as well as the construction of approximately 4.7 kilometers of highway, a connecting road, and the Beresti logistics terminal, investments estimated at around 56 million euros. The Republic of Moldova will finance the construction of a sector of approximately 500 meters of highway between the bridge and the national road R16, an investment estimated at 5 million euros.

Just Thursday, in Bucharest, the contract for the design and execution of the Targu Neamt-Iasi-Ungheni highway section, which will extend to the new bridge over the Prut, was also signed.

According to the authorities, the signing of the documents represents a new step in connecting the Republic of Moldova to the European transport network and in strengthening cooperation with Romania in the field of infrastructure.
