According to the Presidential Office, the envelope visibly bears the entry and exit stamps of the post office, which would demonstrate that it has gone through the dispatch procedure and was received by the recipient.

The Presidency mentions that, after the correspondence has been sent to the recipient, the responsibility for keeping or deleting it falls on the person or institution that holds it.

The institution specifies that it has alerted the police to verify the documents with personal data found at the scene.

According to the Inspectorate, the control teams are on the field, where the affected perimeter has been delimited and the waste inventory has been carried out. Also, the institution has notified the Police regarding the personal data documents that were found at the scene.

Authorities are investigating to determine the origin of the waste, who generated it, and which operator had the legal obligation to manage it. Inspectors assert that they will identify all individuals and companies involved in this case.

At the same time, the damage caused to the environment will be calculated, and the persons found guilty will be sanctioned and obliged to clean up the land and eliminate the effects of pollution.

The Minister stated that he has taken note of the grievances of the inhabitants of Sangera, but emphasized that the situation there differs from other unauthorized landfills in the country. “I have heard the voice of the inhabitants of Sangera. At the same time, I want to mention that this subject has been highly politicized. What is happening in Sangera is not similar to what is happening in other unauthorized landfills. In Sangera there is some sort of order. There is an attempt to sort the waste,” said Gheorghe Hajder during the “Rezoomat” show on RealitateaTV.

According to him, the Environmental Protection Inspectorate carried out on-site checks and found several violations. “Following the inspection carried out by the Environmental Protection Inspectorate, violations were detected. The Media Agency received the minutes from the Inspectorate and is analyzing this subject. They are within the deadline. By mid-May, they will respond in this regard. We tried not to politicize this subject, as it is done by the general mayor,” said the Minister of Environment.

The minister’s reaction comes after the public hearings held on Wednesday in Parliament on the sidelines of this case. During the discussions, it was mentioned that the waste sorting plant in the city of Sangera operates without a waste storage permit and with several violations of environmental legislation.

The local authorities of Sângera and the deputies of the Alternativa faction have expressed their concern about the legality of the company’s activities. The local councillors argue that it operates without the approval of the Local Council and, although the locals have repeatedly requested the suspension of activities, so far no official response has been received from the competent environmental institutions.
