The legislative changes targeting the taxation of enterprises in the Transnistrian region primarily aim to protect the interests of citizens and are not merely about taxes or funds. This is the reaction of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, after Tiraspol asked Chisinau to abandon the new fiscal measures, reports IPN.

“As for the initiated legislative changes, they have all passed the legal procedures, transparency was ensured, and parliamentary hearings took place, to which economic agents from the left bank of the Nistru were also invited. It is true that there were not many, but the important thing was to have this possibility of participation,” Valeriu Chiveri declared to the press.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri, these changes primarily target people and not just aspects related to taxes or funds. He pointed out that they will also allow for the adjustment of the fiscal space throughout the entire country.

The so-called supreme soviet from Tiraspol has transmitted to the Parliament a request asking for the cancellation of the new fiscal measures for the economic agents from the Transnistrian region, which foresee the introduction of VAT and excise duties. The administration from Tiraspol expressed its dissatisfaction with Chisinau’s intention, arguing that these measures could seriously affect the activity of the enterprises, could cause price increases and could worsen the economic and social situation.
