The intervention is coordinated by the IGP, in collaboration with the National Army engineers, employees of the Prosecutor’s Office, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the Border Police, and the emergency services.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu emphasized, at the beginning of the Government meeting, the need for investments in defense and the support given to Ukraine. “This time we were shocked and alarmed by the fact that it carried an explosive charge. A controlled explosion was carried out a few moments ago, and currently all the locals are safe,” said the prime minister.

In turn, the President of Parliament, Igor Grosu, described the incident as a new serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. “Some politicians, who for four years did not condemn the barbaric war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, were saying: why do you keep frightening and blackmailing us that the war is near. According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, the demining mission carried out in the outskirts of the Talmaza locality, Stefan Voda district, the “Codru” Engineering Battalion team detected and destroyed four 122 mm caliber mortar bombs and five 105 mm caliber artillery shells.

The defusing of explosive objects has also been carried out in Chisinau, Anenii Noi, Stefan Voda, Causeni, Ungheni, Hancesti, and Falesti.

According to the Ministry of Defense, all the discovered ammunition has been neutralized under maximum safety conditions, without endangering the population.

Since the beginning of the year, the engineers of the National Army have carried out about 80 demining missions, during which over 370 explosive objects of various types, as well as 120 cartridges, have been destroyed.

The sappers urge citizens to be cautious when they detect explosive objects in the ground and to strictly adhere to several rules. Thus, the emergency number 112 should be immediately notified and the location of the detected explosive object marked. The ammunition should not be touched by hand or with other objects, should not be hit or moved, the fuses or other components should not be disassembled, and they should not be thrown away.
