According to the information provided by the Chisinau City Hall, Irina Gutnic had been suspended from her position as the general manager of the company during her term as deputy mayor. Currently, the position of interim director of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” is held by Diana Tacu, the source further announces.

Irina Gutnic was dismissed on Monday, May 11, from her position as Deputy Mayor of the capital. The announcement was made by the Mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, who specified that he had signed the order to this effect. Irina Gutnic was appointed to the position of Deputy Mayor in 2022, by the order of Mayor Ion Ceban, after two failed attempts to appoint her by the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council. Until then, Irina Gutnic had been the general director of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”.

During the period of 2003-2012, he held various positions at the Ministry of Finance. He also served as the head of the department at the Court of Auditors and the deputy general director of the National Agency for the Settlement of Appeals.

“The state of emergency was not a whim, but a responsible decision in a critical moment”, declared the prime minister. According to him, the Republic of Moldova faced major risks simultaneously in the power system and the fuel market.

The parliamentary opposition criticized the decision to declare a state of emergency, asserting that the Government already has enough tools to manage the situation, without the need for this exceptional measure.

The Prime Minister, however, noted that the state of emergency contributed to the rapid management of the situation and that, through simple derogations or other usual mechanisms, interventions could not have been carried out with the same speed and efficiency.

The state of emergency in the energy sector came into effect on March 25 for 60 days, following attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine, which put the Vulcănești-Isaccea line out of service. After its termination, the state of alert in the energy sector will be established for 60 days. According to the authorities, the measure is necessary to maintain control of the situation and respond quickly to possible developments.

The agenda of the meeting includes ten draft normative acts, four of which will be examined in the second reading. These aim at: adjusting the legislation in the field of housing, as well as improving the mechanism for voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units. Also, it is about introducing the obligation to display the country of origin for food products and changing the rules for granting sanatorium treatment tickets for veterans.

In the first reading, the Parliament will examine legislative initiatives regarding geographical indications, guaranteed traditional specialties and optional quality mentions, as well as tax and customs facilities for the implementation of the “Higher Education” Project.
