U.S. citizens who have been exposed to the hemorrhagic fever virus but are asymptomatic will not be treated in the United States; instead, they will be monitored at a medical center in Kenya. The U.S. is also imposing strict biosecurity measures on U.S. citizens arriving from countries where Ebola cases have been confirmed, according to IPN.

The Trump administration has implemented a zero-tolerance policy toward Ebola to ensure that no cases are allowed into the United States. U.S. citizens returning from affected regions—Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan—are redirected to four specific airports for health screening, but those who have been exposed to the virus will be sent to a quarantine center in Kenya to receive care. These airports are Atlanta, Houston, Washington-Dulles, and John F. Kennedy in New York.

In Kenya, the announcement was met with skepticism. Although the Ministry of Health in Nairobi confirmed that discussions regarding international cooperation were underway, it emphasized that any agreement must comply with national laws and protect Kenyan citizens.

An American citizen infected with the deadly virus is currently being treated at a hospital in Germany, while another who is suspected of being infected has been sent to a hospital in the Czech Republic. Meanwhile, in Europe, two Italian aid workers have been placed in isolation at a hospital in Milan, suspected of having contracted the virus after a three-month mission in Uganda, according to Dailymail.

The new digital entry and exit system at the external borders of the European Union (EES), intended for citizens outside the community space, has been activated starting Sunday, October 12, at several airports in Romania. At the border, both travel data and passengers’ biometric data are recorded, as part of a process that will gradually replace the manual stamping of passports, reports IPN.

In Romania, the EES system has been implemented at airports in the counties of Constanta, Caras-Severin, Maramures and Sibiu, according to Mediafax.

The system was progressively implemented at the border crossing points of Midia (Constanta County), Stanca (Botosani County), Naidas (Caras-Severin County) and Sighet (Maramures County), with plans to gradually extend it to the other border points over the next six months.

The EES system applies exclusively to citizens from outside the European Union who, starting from October 12, travel for short stays in the community area – a maximum of 90 days within a 180-day period. Upon their first entry into the Schengen Area, travelers must scan their passport, have their fingerprints taken, and have a photo taken. For subsequent travels, only facial biometric verification will be necessary.
