Storm hits northern localities
The strong wind and hail have ravaged several areas in the north of Moldova. The wind blew away roofs of houses and schools in Donduseni, Ocnita and Floresti districts, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Civil Protection and Emergency Service.
According to its press officer, Liliana Puscasu, several localities are still threatened by floods, as all the efforts are focused to strengthen protection dams near the villages of Talmaz, Crocmaz, Palanca and Rascaieti from Stefan-Voda district.
On August 6, 4 fires were recorded, as a family from Duruitoarea, Rascani district, remained without their property. The fire is believed to have been lit by an arsonist, as the damages are established.
According to UN statistics, the floods devastating Central and Eastern Europe later in July claimed 42 lives and displaced some 40,000 people. Three people got drowned by rain in Chisinau, as over 4,000 people have been evacuated and 836 houses have been flooded.
