The private college “Prometeu – E.P.T” of Soroca town stopped work after a number of irregularities were discovered at the institution. Minister of Education Corina Fusu signed an order to this effect. By August 25, the college’s administration must present a plan for transferring the students to other technical professional institutions.
Silviu Gancu, head of the Education Ministry’s Technical Professional Education Division, has told IPN that officials of the Ministry made a number of visits to this college starting with 2014 and found a number of irregularities there, such as the non-implementation of the regulations concerning transferable credits and non-observance of the education plan by including subjects that are not indicated in the curriculum in the program of studies.
“Also, there were no analytical programs for specialty disciplines, which is what is taught at lessons. The documents to show the grades of students in the exams of 2014-2015, 2015-2016 were also absent. This means that those exams weren’t probably held and the process is not clear,” stated Silviu Gancu.
Also, the class register didn’t contain the signatures of teachers, which confirm that the classes were taught, and no record was kept of how the education plan was carried out and of student attendance. The institution’s administration could not present documents concerning the tests and exams taken during the last two years.
The college’s administration was given time until September 1 to archive the documents concerning the education process and to transmit these to the Soroca-based College “Mihai Eminescu”.
