A regional deposit to collect solid waste from the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni and Calarasi will be built near Todiresti village, Ungheni.
The village council decided to allocate a plot of approximately 20 hectares for this purpose.
The Development Agency for the Central Region said in a press release that the council meeting was also attended by the village residents, who welcomed the decision, as it is expected to cause the removal of unauthorized dumping sites and reduce associated morbidity rates in the area.
According to the Agency, the goal of the project is to improve waste disposal services by creating an integrated waste management system in said districts in the Central Region.
The project enjoys the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the European Union.
