The Socialist MPs criticized the social policy pursued by the authorities, naming it genocide of the own people. These also expressed indignation at the fact that a bill to raise the salaries of a number of high-ranking officials by 35% is examined in Parliament at a time when the people live at the poverty line and suggested increasing the child benefit and providing more benefits to newly created families, IPN reports.

In a news conference, MP Marina Radvan said the lump-sum paid on the birth of the first child is 3 100 lei, while on the birth of each next child – 3 400 lei. The monthly child benefit paid up to the child’s age of three represents 30% of the average monthly income for the last 12 worked months, while the monthly benefit for socially uninsured persons is only 440 lei.

The Socialists put forward their own proposals aimed at supporting the socially-deprived groups of people, saying all the allowances should be raised up to the minimum subsistence level. The lawmakers suggest increasing the lump sum on the birth of the first child to 15,000 lei, that on the birth of the second child to 30,000, while that on the birth of the third child to 50,000 lei. The monthly benefit for socially uninsured persons should be increased up to the minimum subsistence level.

The Socialists also propose implementing a maternal capital program, providing interest-free state-guaranteed loans to young families for purchasing dwellings and annulling 15% of the amount of the loan on the birth of the second child and 35% of the amount on the birth of the third child so as to stimulate natality.

According to the Socialist MPs, allocations should be provided for purchasing teaching aids and stationery, while the dwelling tax for families with many children should be halved. These consider that the state has the necessary money, but the cases of appropriation of funds should be excluded.
