Senior teacher at vocational school sentenced to jail

A senior teacher at a vocation school in Cahul accused of influence peddling has recently been sentenced to 2 years in a semi-open prison. The sentence can be appealed, IPN reports.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the culprit extorted 300 euros from a former student claiming that he could influence some clerks at the Ceadir-Lunga district division for registration of transports and qualification of drivers to facilitate his exam and help him get a driver's license.

The teacher was arrested on October 9, 2014, immediately after he received the money from the student.

On June 20, 2014, he had been fined with 42,000 lei for similar offenses.
