PSRM condemns intention to convert emergency loan into state debt

The Party of Socialists (PSRM) condemns the parliamentary alliance’ intention to adopt a law to transform the money allocated by the National Bank of Moldova for covering the gap that appeared as a result of the banking frauds into public debt, IPN reports.

“By the logic of the authors of this law, the obligation to restore the stolen money is shifted onto the ordinary people of Moldova. According to the Socialists, this is money that should be paid to pensioners, doctors and teachers. These are funds that were to be allocated for repairing kindergartens, etc.,” says the statement adopted by the Socialist parliamentary group in a meeting.

“The central administration has no moral or legal right to impose the country’s citizens to restore the money stolen by someone else with money out of their own pocket. This would mean paying a double price for the committed thefts,” reads the statement.

According to the PSRM, the funds allocated for repaying the debt to the National Bank of Moldova should be covered by the oligarchs and functionaries who are to blame for the frauds, including by confiscating their property and accounts inside the country and outside it.
