Head of Parliament Marian Lupu, the leader of the PDM, said that in his discussion with Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubko, the latter told him that he wasn’t an eyewitness to the incident in the hunting where Sorin Paciu was wounded mortally, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In the program “In Profunzime” on Pro TV channel, Marian Lupu said that he found out about this case from the press at the middle of last week, and then was provided with comprehensive information by his counselors. He stated that the measures taken in this case were defective. “I told him that they had to act completely differently in such a case. It can happen to everybody. If it happened, they should have announced. If you were present, but not an accomplice in a crime, come and announce at least for the simple reason of self-safety,” said Marian Lupu.
He also said that he does not intend to defend somebody and wants everyone to be put in equal conditions before the law. He informed that he asked Valeriu Zubco about deviations from the procedural norms when the criminal case was started over shooting and then over death. The prosecutor told him that there were no deviations. “The inquiry will establish. The task is to calm spirits down and to conduct this investigation in accordance with the law,” stated the Speaker.
Sorin Paciu was wounded mortally on December 23 during hunting that involved government officials. Former vice president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Gheorghe Cretu is investigated for unintentional murder in this case. In a news conference earlier, politician Sergiu Mocanu said that the prosecutor general was to blame for Sorin Paciu’s death.
