Moldovan halfback Denis Zmeu was accepted back into the Romanian team FC Vaslui. Owing to an injury, the 27-year-old footballer didn’t play last year. This winter, the club’s administration decided to put him on the transfers list.

The situation became tense after Zmeu filed a memo against FC Vaslui to the Romanian Football Federation. “I haven’t been paid for 13 months and this is regrettable given that I have played for the team since 2007. I didn’t tolerate such an attitude towards me,” Denis Zmeu stated for IPN.

Though he trained in Romania throughout winter, while his colleagues were training in Spain, Denis Zmeu considers that he recovered after the accident. He voiced hope that things will now calm down and he will be able to play for FC Vaslui until summer, when his contract expires. “The club’s administration intends to extend the contract, but I don’t know if I will accept,” said the footballer.

In his career, Denis Zmeu played only for Zimbru Chisinau and FC Vaslui. He is the only Moldovan who scored a goal in the Europa League groups in the autumn of 2011, into the goal of Sporting Lisabona.
