Moldovan footballer Denis Zmeu failed to qualify with his team FC Vaslui for the Europa League 1/16 finals, Info-Prim Neo reports.
On December 14, the Romanian team lost the decisive match in the group phase to Zurich 2-0. Zmeu was in reserve yesterday evening. In Europa League, the 26-year-old halfback played three games for Vaslui and scored one goal.
In the other match of group D, Lazio Roma defeated Sporting Portugal 2-0.
Earlier, Shakhtyor Donetsk, which is trained by Moldovan secondary coach Alexandru Spiridion, was knocked out of the Champions League.
