As these bomb scares are perpetuated, things should be considered together as the bomb hoaxes can be a component part of a bigger plan that is aimed at causing the failure of Moldova as a state, expert in psychology, journalism and communication Zinaida Gribincea stated in a public debate hosted by IPN.

“When it seems that the citizen is not defended, is not protected, the economic sector also experiences changes, transformations. In a state in which the frequency of bomb hoaxes can be included in the Guinness Worlds Records Book, any investor from outside will think twice before investing,” stated the expert, noting that there are a lot of aspects that, analyzed together, can suggest the interests of whose player are satisfied.

Developing the idea that the current bomb threats do not generate fear in society, the speaker said the hoaxes are aimed at testing the government’s capacity to cope with a crisis situation. “We speak namely about a crisis situation. Either we speak about a real danger or an imagined danger, there is a feeling of uncertainty and society looks at the government and wonders: to what extend is the government ready to cope?” said Zinaida Gribincea.

She considers that both the government and society should be active when phenomena that cannot be now explained occur. “The government should be transparent to a particular extent and should speak say that where there are shortcomings in the legislation, things will be fixed or are even being fixed as a matter of urgency. If it goes to sanctions, these achieve the goal and the culprits are demoralized and eliminated from public circuit.”

Speaking about public perception of bomb threats, the expert said each of us wants to live in a state dominated by psychological and emotional stability where the necessity of safety is satisfied. “This is one of the basic needs of human existence. We hope that these incidents will be treated with maximum seriousness. When such threats are made, the people should be vigilant and should be ready to reduce the unwanted effects. Also, panic and fear should be avoided”.

The public debate titled “Bomb threats between dementia, infraction, terrorist act and (geo)politics. Or/and?” was the 257th installment of IPN’s project “Developing Political Culture through Public Debates” that is supported by the Hanns Seidel Foundation.
